2 Days Ankara - Hattusha - Cappadocia Tour from Istanbul

DAY 1

DAY 1

With an early pick-up from your hotel around 05:00am , we will transfer you to Ataturk Airport and have the flight to Izmir Airport. Our driver and guide will meet you at the airport and drive you first to the most beautiful museum in Turkey: Anatolian Civilisations Museum. You will be able to see the artifacts from all the civilisations that has passed from Turkish History. After this visit , we will drive to The Hittite Capital: Hattusha Ancient City. This ancient city is dating back to almost 4000 years. The site, discovered in 1834, was not comprehensively excavated until 1906, which was the memorable date of the discovery of a copy of a peace treaty between Hattushili III and the Pharaoh Ramses II, which made possible the identification of Hattusha. We will also visit Yazilikaya Open Air Sanctuary. The most remarkable monument is the great temple, dedicated to the god of storms and the goddess of the Sun, Arinna,and surrounded by an array of buildings including stores. Thousands of cuneiform tablets were found in this area. After this visit, we will drive to Goreme and have overnight in Goreme.

DAY 2

We will start our Highlights of Cappadocia Tour at 09:30 with the most important place in Cappadocia Region: Goreme Open Air Museum. The museum is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. You will see the best-preserved rock-cut churches in the area. The next visit will be in Cavusin where there were Greek and Turkish people living together until 1924. You will see an old Greek and Turkish Village which was inhabited until 1950’s and then moved by the government to a new place because of the falling rocks from the village. We will visit Pasabag (Monks Valley) which is also known as mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys. The fairy-chimneys in Pasabag are the best-protected ones in the area and it gives the best idea about the formation of a fairy-chimney. We will have our lunch at a local restaurant in Avanos. After lunch, we will have the kick-wheel pottery demo which is an art for about 4000 years. Starting with the Hittites, this art became the most important cultural heritage of the town. The next stop will be Kaymakli Underground City after driving about 30 minutes which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cappadocia. After experiencing the life in underground, we will drive you to Pigeon Valley to see Uchisar Castle and the valley from a panoramic point. The tour will end around 5:00pm and then we will drive you to the airport to fly back to Istanbul. When you land at the airport, our driver will meet you to drive you to your hotel.
